Qualification Standards

Education & Experience:

  • High School diplomaor equivalent preferred
  • Trade school or college course work in a related field preferred
  • Previous customer service & hotel experience preferred

Tools & Equipment:

  • Computer,telephone
  • 2 Way radios
  • Hand and power tools, electrical test equipment, refrigeration equipment, plumbing equipment, welding equipment, audio-visual equipment, pipe cutting equipment, telephone, office equipment, computer/computerized monitoring systems

Work Environment:

  • Under variable temperature conditions
  • Under variable noise levels
  • Outdoors/Indoors
  • Around chemicals, fumes and or odor hazards
  • Around dust and or mite hazards

Physical Requirements:

  • Long hours sometimesrequired
  • Must be able to climb stairs, descend stairs
  • Must be able to move quickly and agilely if a situation requiring quickassistancearises

  • Refrigeration, electrical and plumbing skills, boiler operation and maintenance skills, watertreatmentand chiller operation knowledge
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Working knowledge of all legal issues in compliance with CFC/EPA/ADA/IAQ/OSHA
  • Knowledge of energy management an asset

Duties & Functions

Essential:

  • Approach allencounterswith guests and employees in a friendly,service-orientedmanner
  • Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
  • Maintainhigh standardsof personal appearance and grooming,as defined in the hotel handbook, when working
  • Comply at all timeswith New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Must be able to act as Assistant Chief Engineer during his/her absence and assume responsibilities
  • Must be able to work and manage the mechanical, guest room, publicspace, and PM programs
  • Must be able to managethe lights and grounds program
  • Make repairs to air conditioner(s) – change filters, clean coils, replace blower motors, etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, replace HVAC compressors
  • Take chiller readings and water samples
  • Take water heater readings and water samples
  • Test tower water and record data
  • Replace TV’s and cable boxes.Program movie channel boxes
  • Replace light switches, receptacles, and light bulbs
  • Perform furniture repairs
  • Check and replace pumps
