About the Role
Sharp Dimension is a precision machine shop in Fremont, CA, hiring a skilled, hands-on Metal Finisher not a general warehouse or entry-level production applicant.
You'll work from drawings, travelers, and verbal instructions to finish parts to print and cosmetic standards, using orbital, jitterbug, and small hand (PeeWee) sanders along with inspection tools in a quality-driven production environment. Work includes lathe pattern (swirl) finishing as well as standard sanded and deburred finishes.
Must-Have Experience
- Metal finishing, deburring, or detailing in a machining, CNC, aerospace, or similar precision manufacturing environment
- Producing Class A or high-quality cosmetic finishes on metal parts, including lathe pattern (swirl) finishes
- Using orbital, jitterbug, and small hand (PeeWee) sanders
- Reading drawings, travelers, and work instructions
- Using basic inspection tools to verify part quality
- Working independently in a fast-paced, quality-focused shop
What You'll Do
- Finish and detail metal parts to print and cosmetic quality standards, including Class A and lathe pattern finishes
- Perform deburring and detailing to meet customer and quality requirements
- Complete first article/in-process inspection reports and traveler documentation accurately
- Keep tools and equipment clean and in good working order; report issues to your supervisor
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and work cooperatively with the production team
Qualifications
Required:High school diploma or GED; hands-on metal finishing/deburring/detailing experience; ability to read drawings, travelers, and work instructions; ability to use basic inspection tools; able to work with minimal supervision and shifting priorities; strong attention to detail.
Preferred:CNC or precision machine shop experience; Class A cosmetic finishing experience; lathe pattern (swirl) finishing experience; background in aerospace, fabrication, or another skilled trade; technical training beyond high school.
Physical Requirements & Environment
Active shop-floor role: standing/walking for extended periods, frequent hand use, bending/reaching, and occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. Environment may include dust, noise, vibration, fumes, and mechanical/chemical hazards.
Schedule
Full-time; day, swing, and/or night shift depending on opening. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs.
