Job Title: Machine Operator 2nd shift $22.58 per hour

Job Description

Join a high-volume metal stamping facility as a Machine Operator, responsible for safely operating progressive, tandem, and transfer presses to produce high-quality metal components. You will load and run machines, perform visual and dimensional inspections, complete routine maintenance and setups, and accurately record production and quality data in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate progressive presses, tandem presses, and transfer presses to produce metal stampings according to production requirements.
  • Manually load parts or blanks into machines and place finished parts into appropriate inventory baskets.
  • Visually inspect components and assemblies for quality defects such as scrap marks, rust, burrs, lamination, missing welds, and other nonconformities.
  • Measure parts using appropriate measuring tools to ensure they meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform ongoing quality checks and inspections throughout the production run to maintain consistent product quality.
  • Accurately record and report production, quality, and inventory information in accordance with company procedures.
  • Monitor weld machines and presses for proper operation and promptly report any malfunctions or problems to supervision and maintenance.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance and basic setup tasks, including die setting and fastening, and machine lubrication.
  • Use hand tools such as pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, die bars, tape measures, and calipers safely and effectively.
  • Label and tag parts, baskets, and inventory accurately to ensure proper identification and traceability.
  • Follow all company standards, work instructions, and procedures while operating machinery and equipment.
  • Use required safety equipment, including gloves, sleeves, and earplugs, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist with troubleshooting minor machine issues and support efficient changeovers and setups as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and continuously improve processes.

Essential Skills

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or stamping environment.
  • Ability to operate production machinery or willingness to learn machine operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections and identify quality defects on metal parts and assemblies.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers to verify part dimensions.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and report machine or process issues.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Attention to detail for accurate labeling, tagging, and recording of production and quality information.
  • Capability to perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks, including basic die setting and machine lubrication.
  • Physical ability to work in a heavy industrial environment, including standing for extended periods and handling metal components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Machine operation experience with setups and changeovers is a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience operating press brakes or other metal forming equipment is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with quality control practices and production documentation in a manufacturing setting.
  • Comfort reading simple blueprints or part specifications is an advantage.
  • Experience with inspection, assembly, and general labor tasks in an industrial environment.
  • No formal certifications required.
  • No medical monitoring requirements.
  • Willingness to receive advanced training and develop skills on progressive, tandem, and transfer presses.

Work Environment

This role is based in a heavy industrial metal stamping facility with several very large presses and a workforce of a few hundred employees. The environment is partially climate controlled with improved ventilation compared to prior conditions. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., with overtime extending the workday to approximately 11:15 p.m. when needed. Employees receive one 10-minute break and a paid 20-minute lunch, plus extra breaks when temperatures are higher than average. You will work alongside a large team of operators in a structured production setting, using industrial presses, weld machines, and common hand tools such as pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, die bars, tape measures, and calipers, while wearing appropriate safety gear like gloves, sleeves, and earplugs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.58 - $22.58/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
