What is the Position?

PartsBadger is seeking a Financial Controller to own the numbers. You will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, the month-end close, and day-to-day cash management. This is a hands-on role you will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and make sure leadership can trust every report that leaves Finance.

You will serve as the primary finance partner to our Operations department Shop, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Shipping helping them understand their costs and make better decisions. This position reports to the VP of Finance.

Work Environment

PartsBadger is a relaxed, casual work environment located in Cedarburg, WI. We are ITAR registered and hold AS9100 and ISO9001:2015 certifications. Our 15,000 sq. ft. facility blends office and production space. We offer fully stocked snack/beverage rooms, free daily lunches, and a 5-hole disc golf course. We continue to develop our space for idea generation and collaborative work.

Duties & Responsibilities

Day to Day

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
  • Manage daily cash position, cash forecasting, and bank reconciliations
  • Manage accounts receivable process including, cash applications, invoice reconciliations and customer outreach
  • Manage accounts payable process including: inputting invoices into Quickbooks, reconciling against purchase orders, and performing payment runs
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts including inventory, WIP, and fixed assets
  • Answer cost and spending questions from Operations leaders
  • Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
  • Own the month-end and year-end close process and calendar
  • Deliver monthly financial statements and variance analyses to the VP of Finance

Management

  • Partner with the VP of Finance to hire a Financial Administrator as the team grows
  • Onboard, train, and develop the Financial Administrator, including documenting processes so responsibilities can be transitioned smoothly
  • Coordinate finance-related onboarding and training for new employees across the company

Strategic

  • Prepare audit schedules and support requests from outside CPAs
  • Partner with Operations on job costing, standard costs, inventory accuracy, and margin improvement opportunities
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for the Operations department
  • Identify and support process and system improvements that can make the Finance department more efficient and accurate.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and month-end close ownership
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Experience managing cash and cash forecasting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills able to explain numbers to non-finance people
  • Independent problem solver with a bias toward action
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CMA
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with inventory, WIP, and job costing
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Prior experience supervising accounting staff
