HELP KEEP COMPLEX PROJECTS ON TRACK
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Specialist to support project planning, scheduling, and estimating for energy and utility projects in Detroit.
In this role, you will partner with project teams to develop reliable estimates and integrated schedules, monitor progress, evaluate risks, and recommend solutions that keep projects moving toward completion. This is an individual contributor position with opportunities to mentor less experienced estimators and schedulers.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Develop, review, and maintain project estimates and integrated schedules.
Build master and detailed schedules incorporating milestones, work breakdown structures, activity dependencies, costs, labor, equipment, and resource leveling.
Monitor project progress and communicate changes affecting completion dates.
Analyze critical path impacts, delays, and schedule changes; develop recovery schedules and alternative approaches.
Prepare progress reports, trending charts, schedule analyses, and forecasts.
Verify the accuracy and credibility of estimating and scheduling information.
Support the preparation of project time and cost claims.
Develop and improve project controls methods, standards, procedures, tools, and templates.
Maintain historical project data and document lessons learned.
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to project teams and estimating/scheduling personnel.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
At least 7 years of relevant project controls, scheduling, estimating, or related experience.
Strong knowledge of project planning, cost and resource loading, critical path analysis, and schedule performance evaluation.
Working knowledge of financial and economic analysis, project management, and risk management.
Proficiency with project management software, spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate across teams, support multiple stakeholders, and manage shifting priorities.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Scheduling: 4+ years of experience using Primavera, preferably P6.
Estimating: 4+ years of construction estimating experience on large projects.
Experience with schedule quality analysis, integrated schedules, Monte Carlo analysis, or schedule risk assessment.
Experience developing conceptual through definitive estimates, contingencies, budgets, cash flow projections, and cost forecasts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Hybrid position based in Detroit, MI.
Schedule: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
Some assignments may require working in a power plant environment, including climbing stairs and working in hot or confined areas.
