Quality Control Inspector

About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join a heavy industrial manufacturing and fabrication environment. This position will inspect parts, equipment, and completed products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure they meet customer specifications, drawings, quality standards, and applicable industry requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience with dimensional inspection, precision measuring tools, blueprint reading, and manufacturing or fabrication quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional and layout inspections of parts and equipment.
- Inspect incoming materials, work-in-process, and finished products.
- Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions, angles, radii, distances, and other specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and dimensional requirements.
- Identify, document, and report defects, discrepancies, and quality concerns.
- Compare completed work against drawings, specifications, samples, and customer requirements.
- Establish reference points on parts and equipment for accurate measurements.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
- Follow up on quality concerns and corrective actions.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve issues and ensure products meet specifications.
- Assist with identifying recurring quality issues and trends.
- Support NDE and other inspection processes as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in Quality Control, Quality Inspection, Manufacturing, Fabrication, or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Strong understanding of basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to communicate quality issues clearly and professionally.
- Experience with heat exchangers, pressure vessels, or similar industrial equipment is a plus.
- Knowledge of NDE testing methods is preferred.
- Familiarity with ASME Section VIII and TEMA fabrication requirements is a plus.
Working Environment
This is a heavy industrial manufacturing and fabrication shop environment. The position may involve exposure to noise, welding fumes, grinding dust, machinery, and other manufacturing materials.
Candidates must be comfortable with:
- Standing and walking throughout the facility
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
- Closely inspecting parts, equipment, drawings, and measurements
- Frequent use of hands and arms to operate measuring and inspection equipment
- Regularly lifting or moving 10–25 lbs. and occasionally assisting with loads up to 50 lbs.
- Working extended hours or overtime based on production needs
- Wearing required PPE and following all safety procedures
