Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level R&D / QC Technician to join our team in the welding manufacturing industry.

This is a hands-on position combining welding, laboratory testing, quality control, and product development. The successful candidate will support the testing and development of welding consumables and raw materials while working closely with our R&D, Quality, and Production teams.

This position is well suited for a recent graduate in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field who has practical welding experience. We will also consider candidates with strong welding experience and the technical aptitude to learn laboratory and quality-control processes.

Basic welding ability is mandatory for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tests and evaluate the performance of welding consumables.
  • Perform chemical and physical testing of raw materials, welding consumables, coatings, fluxes, and metal samples.
  • Prepare laboratory samples and materials for testing.
  • Conduct routine quality-control testing and accurately document results.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of welding products and formulations.
  • Support troubleshooting and investigation of welding defects, product performance, and material issues.
  • Record test data and prepare clear technical reports.
  • Maintain laboratory and testing equipment.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, and R&D personnel to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.
  • Follow all company, OSHA, environmental, and laboratory safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Basic ability to weld mandatory.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Ability and willingness to work in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document test results.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn welding metallurgy, laboratory testing, and welding consumable technology.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
  • Previous laboratory, welding, manufacturing, or industrial experience.
  • Knowledge of welding processes and metallurgy.
  • Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as spectroscopy, titration, pH analysis, or metallurgical testing.
  • Experience with analytical equipment such as ICP or XRF.
  • Understanding of metal alloys, welding consumables, or corrosion testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and industry standards.

Working Conditions

  • Laboratory and manufacturing plant environment.
  • May require use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and respirators.
  • Standing for extended periods and handling chemical materials may be required.
