- Design and improve production flow, material flow, staffing plans, work balance, and facility or equipment layouts.
- Evaluate equipment, processes, operators, and material interfaces to identify constraints before implementation.
- Support new production lines, model changes, facility expansions, equipment installations, and manufacturing system modifications.
- Develop sustainable standardized work without compromising safety or quality.
Capacity, Throughput, and Labor Planning
- Conduct cycle-time studies, bottleneck analysis, line balancing, utilization analysis, and production-capacity planning.
- Develop capacity models using equipment, labor, shift, volume, and production assumptions.
- Identify capacity gaps and evaluate countermeasures using defined assumptions and measurable criteria.
- Support workforce planning, staffing models, and production-readiness activities.
- Recommend improvements that increase throughput and reduce production constraints.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead or support Lean manufacturing and Kaizen activities focused on productivity, ergonomics, quality, cost, and waste reduction.
- Apply structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis methods.
- Develop, implement, and verify corrective actions and process countermeasures.
- Support process stabilization, recurrence prevention, and sustainable process controls.
- Measure and document before-and-after results and establish ownership for long-term sustainment.
Manufacturing Data and Performance Analytics
- Develop key performance indicators, dashboards, reports, and executive summaries for manufacturing and project performance.
- Analyze production data, process variation, losses, constraints, and trends using statistical and data-visualization methods.
- Define data sources, calculation logic, assumptions, and limitations to ensure analyses are repeatable and auditable.
- Translate analytical findings into prioritized actions, risks, and recommendations.
- Clearly communicate technical findings to engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams.
Project Execution and Equipment Integration
- Support equipment specification, installation, commissioning, trials, validation, production readiness, ramp-up, and handover.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Facilities, vendors, contractors, and production engineering teams.
- Maintain project schedules, action-item trackers, risk registers, decision records, and readiness requirements.
- Identify and escalate unresolved risks using objective data.
- Drive cross-functional issues through final resolution.
Engineering Standards and Technical Documentation
- Develop and maintain production engineering standards, procedures, technical guides, checklists, templates, and process maps.
- Convert engineering knowledge, project experience, and lessons learned into clear and repeatable processes.
- Document workflows for design reviews, project execution, equipment acceptance, commissioning, validation, handover, and recurrence prevention.
- Gather information from subject-matter experts and resolve conflicting technical input.
- Document engineering assumptions, requirements, and decision-making logic.
- Apply document naming, revision control, approval, ownership, effective-date, and periodic-review requirements.
- Create visual and written training materials for engineers, technicians, contractors, and cross-functional partners.
- Monitor adoption and improve documentation based on feedback, audit findings, process changes, and verified lessons learned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least five years of industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, production systems, or closely related experience.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing or automated production environments.
- Experience with manufacturing system design, equipment implementation, or process improvement.
- Experience conducting cycle-time studies, line balancing, bottleneck analysis, capacity planning, and labor planning.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
- Experience using manufacturing data and statistical methods to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Strong project management skills with clear ownership of schedules, risks, action items, and deliverables.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong technical writing and process-documentation abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional departments, vendors, and contractors.
