Position Overview
RLP Developments LLC is seeking an experienced Foreman / Heavy Equipment Operator to lead field operations across our residential subdivision and landdevelopment projects. This role combines handson equipment operation with leadership responsibilities, ensuring crews work safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in civil construction, earthwork, utilities, and site development, and is comfortable managing people, schedules, and jobsite logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, skid steers, graders, loaders, and other machinery required for land development.
- Lead and supervise field crews, subcontractors, and laborers to ensure daily tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate jobsite activities including earthwork, trenching, utility installation, grading, and road construction.
- Read and interpret construction plans, grading sheets, utility layouts, and project specifications.
- Maintain jobsite safety standards and enforce compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Communicate daily with project managers regarding progress, scheduling, material needs, and any issues impacting production.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Ensure work meets quality standards for compaction, grading accuracy, trench depth, and overall site preparation.
- Track daily production, crew hours, and equipment usage.
- Assist with problemsolving and field adjustments when unexpected site conditions arise.
- Represent RLP Developments professionally when interacting with inspectors, engineers, and city personnel.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment operation; subdivision or civil construction experience strongly preferred.
- Prior experience as a foreman, lead operator, or crew leader.
- Strong understanding of earthwork, utilities, stormwater systems, and site development processes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes.
- Knowledge of jobsite safety standards and OSHA requirements.
- Reliable, selfmotivated, and able to lead crews with professionalism and accountability.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks when needed.
