Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to own day-to-day accounting across multiple entities. Reporting to finance leadership, you will keep each set of books accurate and current, manage receivables, process payroll, and handle routine compliance filings. This role suits a self-directed professional who is highly organized and comfortable balancing several ledgers and deadlines at once.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain the general ledger for multiple entities, including transaction entry, bank and credit card reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and periodic financial reports
• Manage the full accounts receivable cycle invoicing, applying payments, following up on open balances, and reconciling accounts
• Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices, coding, and payment runs
• Run payroll for each entity and prepare related payroll tax filings
• Prepare and file compliance returns such as 1099s, W-2s, sales and use tax, business property tax, and local business tax returns
• Track and properly allocate intercompany activity between entities
• Organize supporting documentation and provide schedules to outside CPAs for year-end and tax preparation
• Support month-end close and assist with ad hoc reporting and analysis
Qualifications
• 3+ years of hands-on, full-cycle bookkeeping experience; multi-entity experience strongly preferred
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) or a comparable accounting platform
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, or similar spreadsheet and word-processing tools
• Experience with job costing is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline is a plus, but not required
• Exceptional organization and follow-through, with the ability to work independently and meet overlapping deadlines
• Clear, professional communication and sound judgment with confidential information
• Must reside within commuting distance of Marin County
