Quality Lab Technician opportunity near Walterboro, SC with an established specialty chemical and materials manufacturer. This is a 1st-shift, Monday–Friday position for a scientific professional with a bachelor's degree and hands-on laboratory experience.
You'll support a manufacturing operation where specialty chemical ingredients are blended, tested, packaged, and released for customers. The Quality Lab Technician will test incoming raw materials, production blends, and finished products, operate analytical laboratory equipment, document results, and work closely with production and technical teams to ensure products meet specification before shipment.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a privately held specialty materials company and gain exposure beyond routine QC testing, including product development, formulation, customer samples, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm.
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a related scientific discipline
- Laboratory experience involving analytical or physical testing
- Experience operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation
- Ability to interpret test results and compare materials against product specifications
- Manufacturing, quality control, or R&D laboratory experience preferred
- Chemical, coatings, adhesives, polymers, plastics, lubricants, additives, or specialty-materials experience preferred
- Experience with FTIR, UV/Vis, DSC, viscometers, moisture testing, density, pH, melt flow, or similar laboratory equipment is a plus
- ERP, LIMS, ISO quality system, or controlled laboratory documentation experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while partnering with production, quality, and technical teams
Responsibilities
- Test incoming raw materials, in-process materials, production blends, and finished products against established specifications
- Support batch verification, product release, and quality-control hold activities
- Generate Certificates of Analysis and maintain accurate laboratory and quality documentation
- Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytical and physical-testing equipment
- Enter and review laboratory results within ERP/LIMS systems
- Investigate nonconforming materials, product-quality issues, and customer complaints
- Prepare laboratory blends, customer samples, and developmental formulations
- Assist with R&D testing, new-product qualification, supplier qualification, and product benchmarking
- Coordinate external laboratory testing and equipment-service activities
- Maintain laboratory samples, chemicals, reference materials, calibration records, and general lab organization
