Immediate opening for a Final Inspector III in Brea, CA who possesses:
- 2+ years of inspection experience within an electronics, PCBA, or EMS manufacturing environment
- IPC-A-610 knowledge; current or expired certification preferred
- SMT and Through-Hole inspection experience
- Microscope inspection experience, with the ability to work under a microscope for a minimum of 6 hours per day
- Component identification and workmanship inspection experience
- Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and PCB Gerber files
FULL DESCRIPTION:We are seeking an experienced Final Inspector III to perform visual, electrical, and dimensional inspection of printed circuit board assemblies within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for final assembly inspection, receiving inspection of outsourced processes, First Article Inspection, workmanship verification, electrical component inspection, conformal coating inspection, and quality documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong PCBA inspection experience, knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards, excellent component identification skills, and the ability to perform detailed microscope inspection for extended periods.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and PCB Gerber files
- Reviewing technical documentation to determine material, electrical, cosmetic, dimensional, and workmanship requirements
- Performing visual inspections of printed circuit board assemblies
- Performing dimensional inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications
- Inspecting PCBAs for compliance with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, customer requirements, and applicable process specifications
- Inspecting SMT and Through-Hole components and workmanship
- Performing detailed microscope inspections for extended periods throughout the workday
- Identifying component values and verifying correct component placement and condition
- Using electrical meters and instruments to measure resistors, capacitors, and other electronic components
- Verifying electronic components meet applicable electrical specifications
- Inspecting conformal coating under both black light and white light
- Performing and documenting First Article Inspections after Through-Hole processing
- Performing final assembly inspections
- Performing receiving inspections of outsourced processes as required
- Inspecting sub-assemblies and box-build assemblies
- Supporting shipping and receiving inspection activities as needed
- Identifying workmanship defects, non-conforming material, and quality discrepancies
- Recording inspection results accurately
- Preparing and maintaining required quality documentation
- Communicating inspection findings to Quality, Production, Engineering, and other appropriate departments
- Supporting failure investigations
- Assisting with root cause analysis activities
- Supporting corrective action activities and quality improvement projects
- Following established inspection procedures, customer requirements, quality standards, and safety procedures
- Maintaining a clean and organized inspection area
- Performing other quality-related duties as assigned
The selected candidate will also possess:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of related inspection experience within electronics manufacturing required
- PCBA or EMS manufacturing experience required
- IPC-A-610 knowledge required
- Current or expired IPC-A-610 certification preferred
- Knowledge of J-STD-001 workmanship requirements preferred
- SMT inspection experience required
- Through-Hole inspection experience required
- Microscope inspection experience required
- Ability to work under a microscope for a minimum of 6 hours per day required
- Strong component identification skills required
- Ability to read component values by inspecting parts required
- Workmanship inspection experience required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and PCB Gerber files required
- Experience performing visual and dimensional inspection required
- Experience using electrical meters or similar inspection instruments preferred
- Experience measuring resistors and capacitors preferred
- Experience performing First Article Inspections preferred
- Experience inspecting conformal coating under black and white light preferred
- Sub-assembly and box-build inspection experience preferred
- Experience supporting receiving and final inspection activities preferred
- Experience supporting failure investigations, root cause analysis, or corrective actions preferred
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook proficiency required
- Adobe Acrobat proficiency preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to communicate effectively in English at a general business level
- Strong attention to detail required
- Ability to maintain accuracy while performing repetitive precision inspection activities
- Experience in an AS9100, ISO 13485, ISO 9001, or similar regulated manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment drug and background screening
- Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable ITAR requirements
- Ability to work onsite in Brea, CA
- Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Ability to work overtime as required based on production needs
- Ability to support a temp-to-hire opportunity
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods while performing detailed inspection activities
- Ability to work under a microscope for a minimum of 6 hours per day
- Ability to use hands and fingers for handling electronic components, inspection equipment, electrical meters, documentation, and computer work
- Ability to perform repetitive precision inspection activities throughout the workday
- Ability to visually inspect small electronic components, PCBAs, solder workmanship, conformal coating, and mechanical assemblies
- Ability to distinguish component markings, workmanship conditions, and inspection criteria during detailed visual inspection
- Ability to review engineering drawings, specifications, Gerber files, inspection records, and computer screens for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout inspection and manufacturing areas as needed
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move standard electronic assemblies, inspection equipment, or manufacturing materials as needed
- Ability to work around electronic assemblies, manufacturing equipment, and normal production activity
- Ability to wear required PPE and follow applicable manufacturing, quality, and safety procedures
- Ability to maintain focus, accuracy, and attention to detail throughout prolonged inspection activities
Salary Range: $27 to $30/hour
