Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer I – Assembly will support the Loader Cabs assembly line at Davenport Works by developing and improving manufacturing processes, supporting production operations, and implementing projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
The role works closely with cross-functional teams and operates within established engineering and project guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement projects.
- Support assembly operations with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Lead and manage small- to moderate-scope capital projects.
- Establish and maintain: Assembly layouts, Labor standards, Manufacturing methods, Sequence of events
- Analyze, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes and technologies.
- Provide production support and troubleshooting for current assembly operations.
- Analyze manufacturing processes, equipment, and methods to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support feasibility testing and validation of proposed engineering solutions.
- Assist with developing engineering standards, specifications, and process documentation.
- Coordinate activities with subcontractors and suppliers as required.
- Identify process, system, and procedure shortcomings and support corrective improvements.
- Conduct inspections and support compliance with engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Support product development and engineering activities.
- Work within established project plans to achieve project goals.
- Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvements.
- Support engineering reporting, risk management, and project tracking.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology preferred, especially: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering
- 1+ year of experience with manufacturing processes, quality, tooling, preventive maintenance, or facilities.
- Experience with engineering tools and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Experience leading and implementing projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills with operators, peers, and leadership.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong personal accountability and follow-through.
