Job Description

Job Description

SENIOR FULL-STACK ENGINEER

New York, NY | $120K–$180K

THE SHORT VERSION

This is a data and AI consultancy building systems that change how $5B to $100B private equity and credit funds operate day to day. The problems are open ended and data heavy, and the team comes from places like Lazard, AWS, Stanford, EY, and Accenture.

You'll own products end to end, from an ambiguous ask through a running system in production. Expect about 60 to 70 percent hands on coding and 30 to 40 percent architecture and client meetings.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

High-impact systems, short cycles. Backends, frontends, data pipelines, AI systems. You ship, watch how clients actually use what you built, and iterate the next day.

Turn fuzzy asks into working software. "We need better deal screening" becomes a scoped system with a clear data model, the right interfaces, and a real path to production. You dig in, design it, and build it yourself.

Raise the bar. Code reviews that teach something. Documentation that actually lasts. Architecture decisions that hold up.

Work independently. Take a feature from zero to shipped without hand holding, and know when to ask questions versus when to just make the call.

Share what you know. Pair programming, technical writing, lunch and learns. Your expertise makes the people around you better.

THE TECHNICAL BAR

  • Architecture minded. You design for performance, scalability, and reliability, and you make tradeoffs on purpose, not by accident.
  • Full-stack capable. Python backends, modern JavaScript and TypeScript frontends (React, Next.js, and the like). You've shipped production systems end to end.
  • Strong fundamentals. Clean abstractions, thoughtful API design, real testing, and code that stays maintainable. You think in systems.
  • Sharp with AI tools. You use AI to move fast, but you know how to build without quietly racking up technical debt.

WHO THRIVES HERE

  • Thorough by nature. You test edge cases, document decisions, and think through the second order effects. Details actually matter to you.
  • Self directed. You manage your own time, set your own priorities, and deliver without someone watching over your shoulder.
  • Comfortable in the room. You can sit with a client, hear what they actually need instead of just what they're asking for, and walk out with a real plan.

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

  • 5+ years shipping production systems you've owned end to end
  • A track record working well in ambiguous, fast moving environments
  • Informal leadership through reviews, pairing, or owning projects

Nice to have

  • Background in data engineering or building on messy enterprise data
  • Prior client-facing experience
  • Exposure to finance, private equity, or credit (not required, they'll teach you the domain)

WHY THIS ROLE

You'd work directly with the founder on a small team, with no layers between you and the decisions that shape the company. The problems are genuinely hard: ontology design, AI systems running on real institutional data, full end to end ownership, alongside engineers who are sharp enough to make code review worth your time.

You'll help build the firm's culture, not just its features. Early enough that your judgment shapes how the company defaults on engineering decisions for years. And because every project pushes you across data, AI, and product at once, two years here compounds faster than five somewhere larger and slower.
