Job Description

Job Description
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary
  • Paid time off
  • Training & development

A family in Wayland is seeking a nurturing, engaging, and dependable part-time nanny to care for their sweet 1-year-old son. This position is expected to last approximately 6 months while he recovers from a temporary medical condition that currently prevents him from attending daycare. He has nephrostomy tubes in place to help drain his kidneys, which require very minimal day-to-day care, and the family will provide training so the nanny feels completely comfortable with his routine. While the family anticipates needing care for about six months, his return to daycare will ultimately depend on his medical progress. If that happens sooner than expected, the family plans to provide an early ending package, including additional paid weeks, to help ensure a smooth transition for their nanny
Requirements
  • 3+ years of relevant childcare experience
  • Infant and toddler experience required
  • Comfortable learning and managing basic care related to nephrostomy tubes (training will be provided)
  • Up-to-date CPR/First Aid
  • Tdap, flu, and COVID vaccinations required
Responsibilities
  • Provide attentive, loving care based on the child's daily needs
  • Prepare meals and snacks for the child
  • Assist with diapering and daily routines
  • Empty nephrostomy bags as needed and monitor for any concerns (training provided)
  • Weigh wet diapers to help track urine output
  • Engage in age-appropriate indoor and outdoor play
  • Encourage movement, exploration, and developmental milestones
  • Maintain a safe, engaging environment
  • Clean up after meals and activities
About the Family
This family has one active, happy, and curious 1-year-old who is doing wonderfully and meeting his developmental milestones. He loves exploring, climbing, music, vehicles, water play, spending time outdoors, and is always eager to discover something new. His nephrostomy tubes are temporary and require very minimal day-to-day care, allowing him to enjoy all of the typical activities of a busy toddler. Both parents work from home in separate workspaces and will provide the nanny with autonomy throughout the day. The family also has a friendly medium-sized dog so candidates should be comfortable with pets.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is warm, engaging, and patient with a love for active toddlers. They should be comfortable learning a simple medical routine, communicate openly with the family, and feel confident supporting a child who loves to explore while providing a safe environment. Someone who is flexible, positive, and enjoys getting on the floor to play, sing, read, and encourage developmental milestones will thrive in this role.
