Kitchen Manager
Assisted Living & Memory Care Facility
Schedule: Full-time, including weekends and holidays as needed
Pay:$18-$20 per hour, based on experience
About the position: We are seeking an experienced and dependable Kitchen Manger to oversee daily food service operations for our Assisted Living and Memory Care community.
The kitchen manager will lead the dietary team and ensure residents receive safe, nutritious, appealing, and timely meals while maintaining high standards for food safety, sanitation, resident satisfaction, and kitchen efficiency.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working with a team and takes pride in providing quality meals and excellent service to seniors.
Responsibilities :
-Manage daily kitchen and food service operations.
-Supervise, train, and support kitchen and dining staff.
-Prepare and maintain employee schedules and ensure adequate staffing.
-Monitor portion sizes, food quality, presentation and consistency.
-Work with nursing and dietary staff to accommodate special diets, allergies, food preferences, and texture-modified diets.
-Maintain appropriate food inventory and place food and supply orders
-Monitor food costs, waste, and portion control.
-Maintain proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and temperature logs.
-Ensure the kitchen and dining areas remain clean, organized, and sanitary.
-Ensure compliance with health department, food safety, and facility regulations.
-Maintain required cleaning, sanitation, and food safety documentation.
-Respond to resident and family concerns regarding meals and dining services.
-Support a positive dining experience for Assisted Living and Memory Care residents.
-Assist with menu planning and resident food preferences.
-Train employees on proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
-Address employee performance and attendance issues appropriately
-Work closely with the Executive Director, nursing department, and other department managers
-Participate in inspections, audits quality improvement activities, and department meetings
-Perform other duties necessary for the successful operation of the dietary department
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with therapeutic and modified-texture diets.
-Experience managing food and labor budgets.
-Experience ordering food and maintaining inventory.
-Experience supervising cooks, servers, and dishwashing staff.
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
-Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift.
-Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
-Ability to work in a commercial kitchen environment including exposure to heat, cold, steam, and cleaning chemicals.
