We are looking for a detail-focused Prevailing Wage / Accounts Receivable Clerk. This contract opportunity has the potential to become permanent, is fully on-site Monday through Friday, and is well suited for someone who can balance billing, receivables, and compliance-related construction accounting tasks in a fast-paced environment. The person in this role will support project financial activities, maintain accurate records, and help ensure payroll and billing obligations are completed on time.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee customer invoicing, payment tracking, collections activity, and follow-up communication to support healthy accounts receivable performance.

• Prepare progress billings and final project invoices while monitoring each job for billing status, missing items, and required documentation.

• Set up newly awarded contracts and keep project files organized, current, and aligned with accounting and compliance needs.

• Administer certified payroll processes and prevailing wage reporting for California projects, ensuring records are complete and properly maintained.

• Review employee hours, job assignments, and wage classifications to confirm accuracy before payroll compliance documents are submitted.

• Research applicable California prevailing wage determinations and apply the correct rates and classifications to active projects.

• Coordinate requirements tied to union or signatory work, including documentation, communication, and employee enrollment support when needed.

• Track pre-lien deadlines and related notices, and compile cash flow details and other project accounting information for internal use.

• Communicate with customers, contractors, unions, and internal staff to resolve outstanding billing, payroll, and project documentation issues.

• At least 1 year of experience in accounts receivable, construction accounting, project accounting, or a related administrative accounting role.
• Working knowledge of California prevailing wage regulations and certified payroll processing.
• Experience supporting billing functions, invoice preparation, collections, or other receivables activities.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and follow-up tasks independently.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams and external project partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace for daily documentation and reporting tasks.
• Ability to maintain organized records and handle sensitive financial and payroll information accurately.
• Experience with union/signatory projects, pre-lien processes, Procore, Sage 50, or similar systems is preferred.
