Overview
The Staffing Manager is directly responsible for preparing and maintaining staff schedules to ensure 24-hour coverage across designated units, including master schedules and daily revisions to maintain accurate records by position, unit, and shift. This role involves performing administrative duties requiring knowledge of scheduling programs and adherence to standard policies and procedures while exercising discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment in complex decision-making. The Staffing Manager works independently, managing challenging situations, solving problems, and completing assigned projects with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and maintains staff schedules, contacts personnel for coverage during shortages, resolves scheduling conflicts, and ensures staff qualifications align with assignments. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing for unresolved conflicts or placement recommendations.
- Coordinates orientation, training, and 30-day evaluations for new staff, assists with skills evaluations, develops training materials, and ensures templates and schedules are accurate and thorough.
- Performs advanced data entry for the master scheduling program, develops statistical reports, and ensures productivity and accuracy in maintaining records.
- Supports HR-related tasks, including time and attendance issues, tracking vacancies, and coordinating employee activities. Collaborates with Talent Acquisition on candidate interviews and offers.
- Prepares correspondence, reports, and materials, assists with training agendas and in-services, and supports the Director of Nursing with disciplinary actions and other HR matters.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- College level courses preferred.
Experience
- 1-2 years of progressively more responsible administrative or related experience desired.
- Direct scheduling experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, required.
- Experience with data analysis software desirable.
