Schedule: Mon-Thu (10-hour days)
Pay Rate: $20-$26/hour
Position Overview
Our client, a Tier 1 automotive supplier, is seeking Working Production Team Leads for its first and second shifts in Montgomery, AL.This hands-on role works alongside production employees while helping coordinate daily workflow, train operators, and maintain safety, quality, and production standards. The Team Lead serves as a resource on the production floor and communicates issues to the Production Supervisor.
This position does not include personnel management responsibilities such as hiring, discipline, performance reviews, or approving time off.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of manufacturing production experience, preferably in automotive or similar manufacturing.
- Experience training operators and supporting production changeovers.
- Previous experience as a working team lead, lead operator, or production trainer.
- Ability to perform hands-on production work while helping keep the team's workflow on track.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, part specifications, and production documentation.
- Familiarity with visual inspections, defect identification, and basic measuring tools appropriate to the production process.
- Basic math skills and the ability to maintain accurate production records.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain work methods patiently and consistently.
- Ability to recognize problems, resolve routine issues within established procedures, and escalate concerns promptly.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, attendance, and dependable teamwork.
- Ability to perform essential production duties, including standing, walking, bending, and handling materials, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive supplier.
- Familiarity with automotive customer quality expectations and part traceability.
- Experience with assembly lines, automated production equipment, or machine operation.
- Knowledge of 5S, Lean manufacturing, standardized work, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly on the production floor, performing assembly, machine operation, or other assigned manufacturing tasks.
- Help coordinate daily work according to the supervisor's production plan and priorities.
- Monitor line progress and communicate production delays, material shortages, equipment problems, and quality concerns.
- Train new and existing operators on standard work instructions, safe operating practices, and quality requirements.
- Demonstrate proper work methods and help operators resolve routine production questions.
- Perform required quality checks and help ensure parts meet customer specifications.
- Follow procedures for identifying, separating, and reporting nonconforming material.
- Assist with line startup, changeovers, and shift handoffs.
- Monitor material availability and coordinate replenishment with the appropriate team.
- Record production counts, downtime, scrap, and other required information accurately.
- Maintain an organized work area and support 5S and continuous improvement activities.
- Escalate safety concerns, employee issues, and situations requiring management decisions to the supervisor.
