JOB DESCRIPTION
A client of Insight Global is looking for a Manufacturing Engineers to join their team in Providence, RI. The Engineers will develop, implement, and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects and communicates them to internal and external customers. Defines, develops and transfers manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies and systems. Develops manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes. Actively participates with engineering project teams in order to coordinate the release of new products. Estimates and tracks manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
Technical Requirements
- Experience with mechanical assemblies is preferred over small electrical assembly work.
- Candidates should be comfortable with:
- Mechanical assembly and integration
- Testing activities, including Hi-Pot (high-voltage) testing
- Optical systems and troubleshooting
- OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) experience is a plus
- Limited CAD requirements; the team primarily uses SolidWorks.
- Electrical knowledge can be learned on the job, as Edgar (Manufacturing Engineer) provides support and mentorship in that area.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 3+ years of relevant manufacturing or assembly experience.
- Looking for someone with strong initiative, energy, and a willingness to get their hands dirty.
- Mechanical aptitude is more important than extensive electrical expertise.
- Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred and generally required.
- Exceptions may be considered for exceptional candidates or individuals actively pursuing a degree while demonstrating top-tier experience.
Physical Requirements
- Work involves handling larger cable assemblies and occasional lifting within OSHA guidelines.
- PPE, uniforms, and coveralls will be provided as needed.
Travel
- Less than 5% travel.
- Initial onboarding may include approximately one week of training/Visit in Norfolk.
- Norfolk travel is not expected.
Schedule & Flexibility
- Standard schedule is 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM.
- Flexibility is highly valued due to current 24/7 production operations through at least the end of October, potentially extending into early November.
- Occasional requests for additional hours may arise to support technicians and production teams.
- Overtime needs will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
