We are seeking an experienced Project Estimator to join a growing heavy construction team. This position will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for civil construction projects, including clearing, access, site preparation, and concrete foundations.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of civil construction methods, excellent analytical skills, and hands-on experience preparing detailed estimates and bids.
Key Responsibilities
Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.
Prepare detailed estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
Analyze project requirements, scope, and site conditions to develop accurate and competitive bids.
Conduct site visits when needed to gather project information and assess conditions.
Collaborate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, project managers, and field personnel.
Identify potential project risks, challenges, and cost-saving opportunities.
Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals.
Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
Assist with subcontractor negotiations and cost evaluations.
Monitor project costs and update estimates as project requirements change.
Provide estimating and cost-related guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Participate in project meetings and provide recommendations regarding costs, scope, and construction requirements.
Manage multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
3-4+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably in heavy civil construction.
Experience with estimating software such as HCSS, Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, plans, and specifications.
Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, labor, and equipment costs.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
