Sewing Shop Cutter

Job Summary

The Sewing Shop Cutter uses their technical knowledge and precision skills to prepare materials for completion in a demanding and fast paced environment. The individual must be able to read and understand pattern patterns for use in sewing insulations blankets for oil and gas field operations.

Primary Job Duties

• Read and understand job tickets, design patterns and specifications
• Operate manual or automated cutting machines, rotary cutters, or other tools to slice fabrics into required shapes and sizes
• Must meet production goals with speed and accuracy
• Support the production flow by delivering cut pieces promptly and accurately
• Manage material usage efficiently to reduce scrap and optimize inventory
• Inspect completed products for accuracy and quality
• Utilize various sharp cutting tools in a safe and efficient manner
• Keep cutting tools, blades, and materials stocked and in good condition
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Required Competencies / Prerequisites

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one year of commercial sewing shop cutting experience
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
• Ability to lift heavy fabric roles
• Ability to accurately utilize basic computer applications

Physical Requirements

• Light to moderate physical effort required
• Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
• Required to walk, reach, and move about the shop
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Work with industrial equipment
• Wear safety equipment

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required and must be worn when in the shop

• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection
• Puncture resistant gloves
• Long sleeved pants and shirts
• Footwear covering the entire foot
