Job Description

This role involves constructing pre-engineered metal buildings using a variety of hand and power tools. You will assemble and install structural components and panels, often working at heights of up to 30 feet while secured with appropriate safety harnesses. The position suits someone who enjoys hands-on construction work, is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, and is confident working at elevated heights.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing blueprints to determine where to install concrete
  • Creating forms that will guide the pouring of a concrete surface
  • Spreading poured concrete to fill forms evenly
  • Smoothing surfaces and adding textures as needed
  • Removing excess concrete
  • Treating finished concrete with waterproofing sealants, hardening agents and other substances
  • Polishing dried concrete to enhance its texture and appearance
  • Installing construction elements, such as steel plates and anchor bolts, in concrete

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of construction framing experience.
  • Experience using hand and power tools for construction tasks.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Comfort working at heights of up to approximately 30 feet while using safety harnesses.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability, with consistent attendance and productivity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with metal framing and steel erection.
  • Rail installation experience on structural projects.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Welding experience or exposure to welding on construction sites.
  • Carpentry and general construction skills across a variety of building types.

Work Environment

You will work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation, depending on the project schedule. The field team is small, with fewer than 10 field employees, and typical crew sizes range from 3 to 10 people depending on the project. The culture emphasizes teamwork, safety, and growth under engaged ownership. Standard hours are approximately 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a typical workweek of 40 to 45 hours. The dress code requires pants, a high-visibility shirt, and steel-toe boots to support safety and compliance on the job site. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
