Job Description

This role involves performing hands-on production and assembly tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will spend most of your shift on your feet, supporting a structured packing line and working with hand tools to prepare and assemble products. The position requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork while working in a non-climate-controlled facility and frequently in outdoor areas such as the shipping yard and dock.

Responsibilities

• Support the structured packing line by layering product and securing it using metal rods and a hand-held tool.
• Perform kitting of parts and material kit setups to ensure all components are available for production.
• Carry out basic drilling and grinding tasks as part of the assembly process.
• Read and interpret blueprints to assemble products according to specifications.
• Use hand tools and other basic equipment safely and effectively to complete general production and assembly work.
• Assist with general production tasks, including handling materials, organizing work areas, and supporting warehouse activities as needed.
• Follow established safety procedures and quality standards throughout all tasks.
• Work overtime as needed to support production demands and meet operational schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both indoor and outdoor workspaces.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and resolve issues promptly.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months of manufacturing experience in areas such as general production, assembly, or warehouse work.
• Ability to read a standard and metric tape measure accurately.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools and basic equipment.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints for assembly tasks.
• Strong commitment to safety and product quality.
• Ability to bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand and work for 10 to 12 hours per day in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work effectively as part of a production team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Experience with kitting parts, drilling, grinding, and material kit setups.
• general production, assembly, or warehouse operations.
• Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor areas, including shipping yards and docks.
• No licenses or certifications required for this position.

Work Environment

This role is based in a high-volume production and manufacturing facility with approximately 180 shop employees and around 400 employees in total. The operation runs multiple shifts and functions nearly 24/7, providing a consistently active and dynamic work setting. The environment is non-climate-controlled, so temperatures can be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter. In this position, you will frequently work outdoors in the shipping yard and dock area, exposed to the elements. You will spend most of your shift on your feet and may work 10 to 12-hour days, including overtime when required. All personal protective equipment, such as ear plugs and safety goggles, is provided, though you may need to supply your own steel-toed shoes. The dress code includes jeans, a T-shirt, and steel-toed shoes, along with required PPE. The facility maintains a strict no-tobacco policy of any kind on site, and cell phones cannot be used on the production floor

This is a Contract position based out of WICHITA, KS.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
