The Branch Manager directs all aspects of the branch, including staff management, sales support, purchasing, inventory control and loss prevention, warehouse and delivery operations, billing, and safety. This hands-on leader oversees a team of CDL drivers, warehouse associates, and office staff to deliver roofing products to our customers accurately, safely, and on time. Strong communication skills, a passion for safety, experience supporting sales, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are key to success in this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Direct all aspects of the branch, leading a team of CDL drivers, warehouse associates, and office staff.
  • Select and hire staff; set objectives; coach, evaluate, and hold team members accountable for individual and team performance.
  • Address performance issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure direct reports receive required safety, compliance, and job training, along with development opportunities.
  • Manage staff hours and schedules based on branch needs; approve timecards.
  • Recognize employee achievements and encourage excellence through employee engagement.
  • Plan and conduct regular staff meetings, operations meetings, and branch-level events.
  • Build a positive, team-oriented branch environment that reflects the company’s mission and values.

Branch Performance & Budgeting

  • Develop and maintain annual objectives and expense budgets based on historical data, operational need, and customer demand.
  • Manage labor, indirect, and operating costs; use productivity metrics to drive efficiency in material handling and delivery.
  • Check margins on orders and ensure required reports and goals are communicated to all departments.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase operating efficiency.

Sales Support & Customer Service

  • Collaborate with and foster strong working relationships with Sales and Administrative teams.
  • Enter sales orders, including out-of-warehouse and direct orders.
  • Contact customers as needed to confirm orders; answer phones and resolve customer questions and concerns.
  • Interact regularly with customers and company leaders to ensure satisfaction and promote improved service.
  • Promote strong customer and supplier relationships.

Purchasing & Inventory Control

  • Create purchase orders for direct and into-warehouse orders.
  • Order material to keep the warehouse properly stocked.
  • Receive material into the warehouse using check-in sheets and receiving in Agility.
  • Perform cycle counts and physical inventory according to accounting guidelines.
  • Oversee inventory control and loss prevention.

Warehouse & Delivery Operations

  • Plan and schedule deliveries so orders are filled accurately, safely, on time, and without damage.
  • Keep the warehouse organized and apply supply chain fundamentals: right product, right place, right time, every time.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, and pitch in when team members are out or unavailable.
  • Oversee delivery of large product volumes to targeted accounts in the branch’s territory as needed.

Billing, Accounts Payable & Administration

  • Work closely with the Office Administrator to ensure orders are placed, scheduling is set, and billing is current in the system.
  • Mark orders delivered, run the delivered report, and bill customers by the date material shipped.
  • Enter accounts payable and vendor invoices for payment.
  • Maintain accurate, complete paperwork: file customer paperwork by customer name and warehouse order paperwork by vendor (pre- and post-invoice).

Safety, Compliance & Facility

  • Ensure a safe workplace for associates and visitors, and that staff follow safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws related to employment, safety, OSHA standards, and DOT regulations.
  • Open and close the branch and maintain awareness of property security.
  • Oversee facility maintenance as needed and establish relationships with local service providers.
  • Uphold the high ethical and professional standards set by the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong leadership skills, including employee engagement and setting clear expectations
  • Superior interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to think independently and critically, solve problems creatively, and implement solutions
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills; flexible and able to change course quickly
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales and Administration
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant business systems
  • Self-motivated, high energy, and persistent, with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to travel up to 15–20%

Preferred

  • Experience in roofing or building materials supply, or in logistics, manufacturing, or distribution
  • Knowledge of branch operations and systems; experience with Agility is a plus
  • Proven track record of operational success and process improvement

WORKING CONDITIONS

This role combines office and warehouse work. It requires regular physical activity, including loading and unloading trucks and helping with warehouse and facility upkeep.
