Hiring a Transit Supervisor to support the day-to-day operations of the goMARTI project in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. This role combines team leadership and hands-on vehicle operation to help ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of micro-transit services.
In this role, you’ll lead a team of 6-10 drivers while supporting daily transit operations using hybrid and electric vehicles, including vehicles equipped with wheelchair ramps. As goMARTI is also a research initiative, you’ll contribute to operational documentation, reporting, and data collection efforts that support ongoing program analysis and development.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, highly organized, customer-oriented, and comfortable leading teams in a dynamic operational environment.
- Team Leadership: Leads, schedules, and coaches a team of 6–10 drivers to ensure smooth daily operations and high customer service standards.
- Hands-On Operations: Drives hybrid and electric micro-transit vehicles (including operating wheelchair ramps) to provide coverage as needed.
- Safety & Maintenance: Promotes a safety-first culture, handles routine vehicle inspections, and manages operational incidents or rider concerns via Slack.
- Research & Reporting: Maintains operational logs, tracks data, and provides feedback to support the project's research and program analysis.
Required skills
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Experience operating a variety of vehicles, including hybrid and electric models.
Exceptional customer service skills with a demonstrated ability to interact positively with diverse populations.
Strong leadership capabilities, including team motivation, coaching, and conflict resolution.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Highly organized with a strong attention to detail for accurate documentation and reporting.
Ability to work effectively in a research-oriented environment, understanding the importance of data collection.
