Reliability Engineer

The Reliability Engineer leads equipment reliability and preventive maintenance improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Skilled Trades, and Engineering teams to improve equipment uptime, reduce recurring failures, optimize preventive maintenance programs, and drive continuous improvement using reliability-centered maintenance practices. The position follows a MondayFriday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• Lead reliability, preventive maintenance (PM), and autonomous maintenance initiatives across the manufacturing facility.
• Analyze equipment performance, downtime, CMMS data, and maintenance history to identify failure trends and bad-actor equipment.
• Conduct detailed root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring equipment failures.
• Improve equipment reliability by optimizing preventive maintenance, performing equipment criticality assessments, and developing maintenance strategies.
• Develop and implement Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) standards and equipment care programs to support consistent equipment performance.
• Track and improve maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs), including MTBF, MTTR, OEE, downtime, and planned versus reactive maintenance.
• Coordinate equipment restoration activities, manage equipment abnormalities, and lead continuous improvement projects focused on reliability.
• Support condition monitoring programs, spare parts management, and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) strategies.
• Coach operators and maintenance personnel on equipment ownership, reliability best practices, and preventative maintenance procedures.
• Lead cross-functional teams to improve maintenance effectiveness, equipment performance, and overall operational efficiency.
• Support predictive maintenance activities such as vibration analysis and lubrication analysis where applicable.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on PLC troubleshooting and other technical issues impacting equipment reliability.

• Experience in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Manufacturing Maintenance, Industrial Engineering, or Skilled Trades leadership.
• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and equipment reliability in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), including maintenance work orders and maintenance planning.
• Proven problem-solving skills with demonstrated Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and Production teams.
• Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication and project management skills.
• Familiarity with maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, OEE, and planned versus reactive maintenance.
• Experience supporting or leading reliability, preventive maintenance, or autonomous maintenance initiatives.

• Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Autonomous Maintenance, World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Lean Manufacturing, or Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).
• Knowledge of MTBF, MTTR, PM optimization, equipment criticality analysis, condition monitoring, and spare parts management.
• Experience leading reliability improvement or maintenance excellence initiatives within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Exposure to world class manufacturing, lean manufacturing, lean management, and six sigma methodologies.
• Experience with predictive maintenance techniques, including condition assessment, vibration analysis, and lubrication analysis.
• Familiarity with MRO maintenance practices and strategies.
• Exposure to PLC troubleshooting and its impact on equipment reliability.
• Interest in ongoing training, professional development, and leading capital or operational improvement projects.

This role is based in an indoor, non-climate-controlled manufacturing and production facility. You work on-site in partnership with Operations, Maintenance, Skilled Trades, and Engineering teams in a hands-on environment focused on equipment reliability and continuous improvement. The position follows a MondayFriday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., supporting a consistent daytime work routine. The facility environment reflects a typical industrial production setting, with active equipment, maintenance activities, and cross-functional collaboration.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rocky Mount, VA.

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
