Job Title:Windows System Engineer

Location: San Diego, CA 92121 (100% Onsite)

Pay Rate: $362.31-$452.69 /per day

Contract Duration: 7+ Months

About the Role

We are seeking a Windows System Engineer to support the design, development, creation, modification, and validation of embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and specialized utility programs. In this role, you will collaborate with project teams to design and implement features, assist with code reviews, and help ensure overall code quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze user needs and software requirements.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and bug check triage on Windows memory crash dumps (.dmp files).
  • Triage kernel-mode, driver, and system-level crashes using WinDbg and the Windows Driver Kit (WDK).
  • Design, code, and implement software features for products and systems using C and C++.
  • Participate in unit testing, debugging fixes, and integration efforts to meet project schedules.
  • Write Python or PERL scripts to automate testing, log collection, and debugging workflows.
  • Assist with code reviews, regression testing, and issue triaging to maintain high code quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project team members to accomplish shared goals.
  • Write detailed technical documentation for software projects.

Required Skills

  • C or C++ programming expertise
  • Practical experience using WinDbg or WinDbg Preview for crash dump analysis (.dmp files) and bug check triage
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Driver Kit (WDK), kernel panics, or driver integration debugging
  • Python or PERL scripting for automation
  • Computer Architecture fundamentals

Qualifications & Level of Work

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Location: Must currently reside within local daily commuting distance of San Diego, CA (92121)
  • Scope: Ability to work under supervision, manage multi-step technical tasks, and prioritize work effectively.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to convey routine technical details, crash triage findings, and updates.
