Manufacturing – Maintenance Manager
Location: Detroit Assembly Complex Jefferson (DACJ)
Pay Rate: $37.94/hour
Schedule: Any shift, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Position Summary
We are seeking a Maintenance Manager / Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to lead skilled trades and oversee maintenance operations for the Energy Center and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at a major automotive manufacturing facility.
This is a critical, high-priority position responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant utility systems that support continuous manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will have industrial, manufacturing, or automotive maintenance experience, at least 1 year of experience leading skilled trades, and strong mechanical, electrical, and automation troubleshooting skills. Energy Center or WWTP experience is a plus but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise skilled trades employees, contractors, and support personnel.
- Lead preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities.
- Plan maintenance schedules, assign manpower, and manage overtime.
- Prioritize work orders to minimize equipment failures and production downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation, and automation issues.
- Oversee maintenance and operation of:
- Boilers and chillers
- Cooling towers
- Compressed air systems
- HVAC equipment
- Pumps, piping, and heat exchangers
- Water treatment and softening systems
- Wastewater treatment equipment
- Chemical feed systems
- Support PLC, HMI, SCADA, VFD, instrumentation, and industrial automation systems.
- Ensure wastewater treatment operations remain within regulatory requirements and maintain required records.
- Develop preventive maintenance strategies and improve equipment reliability.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) following equipment failures.
- Coordinate outside contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Support capital improvement projects through installation and commissioning.
- Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts, inventory, and procurement activities.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/TMS) for work orders, PMs, labor utilization, and equipment history.
- Monitor maintenance KPIs such as equipment uptime, MTTR, MTBF, PM compliance, utility consumption, and maintenance backlog.
- Lead daily Shop Floor Management meetings and continuous improvement activities.
- Promote safety, teamwork, accountability, employee development, and operational excellence.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Environmental, Safety, and UAW-represented employees.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial facilities, or automotive operations.
- 1+ year of supervisory or team leadership experience leading skilled trades personnel.
- Experience overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or automation systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Energy Center and/or Wastewater Treatment Plant experience.
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Environmental Technology, or a related technical field.
- Bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Experience in a union/manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and mechanical drawings.

The strongest candidates will have a background in industrial, automotive, or manufacturing maintenance leadership and be comfortable supervising skilled trades while troubleshooting complex equipment.
