A well-established Wakefield, MA accounting firm is hiring a Tax Supervisor to lead client engagements, mentor staff, and build your book of business - with a clear path to Manager and beyond. If you thrive on technical complexity and genuine client relationships, this is the seat for you.

What you'll do

• Plan, schedule, and supervise tax engagements from kickoff through delivery, keeping projects on time and on budget

• Review federal and state tax returns, workpapers, and research memos for technical accuracy and firm-standard quality

• Serve as the day-to-day client contact for your assigned portfolio, managing expectations and turning issues into advisory opportunities

• Own budget and production targets for your engagements, reporting progress to partners and flagging risks early

• Coach and develop staff through hands-on review, real-time feedback, and milestone check-ins

• Support consulting and special projects by bringing deep technical expertise across your core tax areas

• Contribute to firm growth through relationship-building with clients ranging from publicly held corporations to closely held businesses

What you need

• 6+ years of public accounting experience with a significant tax focus

• Active CPA license (required at hire)

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (BSBA or equivalent)

• Proficiency with ProSystem fx Tax, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel/Word

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously

Nice to have

• Experience supervising or mentoring staff in a public accounting environment

• Exposure to tax consulting, advisory, or special projects beyond compliance

• Familiarity with additional tax software platforms

Pay & benefits

• Salary: $105,000 - $125,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
