Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Technician to join a high-precision aerospace machine shop. This role is crucial in ensuring that custom, high-value aerospace components meet exacting quality and dimensional requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, solid communication skills, and prior experience in machine shop quality inspection.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed inspections on custom aerospace machined parts.
• Use precision inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and other precision measurement tools and gauges.
• Inspect parts to tight tolerances and aerospace quality standards.
• Document inspection results clearly and accurately.
• Communicate findings with Quality, Machining, and Engineering teams.
• Maintain focus and accuracy during long, detailed inspections.
• Support continuous improvement and quality compliance initiatives.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of quality inspection experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience inspecting machined metal parts.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills and ability to document findings clearly.
• Comfortable inspecting high-dollar, custom parts where quality is critical.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Familiarity with medical device inspection is advantageous.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, AL.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
