Systems Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Systems Engineer to support requirements development for complex U.S. Navy Strategic Weapon System programs. This position will focus on defining, decomposing, documenting, and managing detailed system and subsystem requirements across various programs. The engineer will work collaboratively with internal engineering teams, customer stakeholders, and partner organization engineers to create technically accurate, detailed, and traceable requirements.

• Develop and maintain system and subsystem requirements, particularly focusing on electrical interfaces such as power, data, and communications.
• Create and manage detailed Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Engineering Requirements Documents.
• Support large requirements sets containing thousands of requirements across multiple programs.
• Utilize DOORS, Engineering Requirements Documents, and/or Excel to manage and analyze requirements.
• Collaborate across electrical, aerospace, mechanical, systems, and verification disciplines to define and resolve interface requirements.
• Facilitate technical discussions with engineers and stakeholders from various organizations to develop and refine requirements.
• Support requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability, and technical baseline development.
• Evaluate engineering changes and assess their impacts on requirements, interfaces, and associated documentation.
• Present requirements and technical information to customers, technical leads, and program stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Approximately 2 to 5+ years of relevant systems or requirements engineering experience preferred.
• Experience developing, documenting, or managing engineering requirements.
• Proficiency with DOORS, Engineering Requirements Documents, ICDs, and/or requirements-focused Excel datasets.
• Experience working with system or subsystem interfaces.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple engineering organizations.
• Eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance.

• Electrical systems experience involving power, data, communications, avionics, or related interfaces.
• Aerospace or complex hardware systems experience.
• Understanding of the Systems Engineering V lifecycle, particularly requirements development and definition.
• Experience developing or maintaining ICDs.
• Experience in Navy, DoD, missile, submarine, aerospace, spacecraft, or weapon systems.
• Experience managing large requirements sets.
• Experience evaluating engineering changes and their downstream impacts.

The work environment involves collaboration with diverse engineering disciplines and stakeholders, focusing on complex U.S. Navy Strategic Weapon System programs. The role requires proficiency in using technologies like DOORS and Excel for requirements management. The position supports a professional setting where technical discussions and presentations are integral to the job.

This is a Contract position based out of Rockville, MD.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
