Shipping and Receiving Material Handler

Job Title: Material Handler – Fabrication

Location: Addison, IL (Onsite)

Pay Rate: $20.00 – $25.00 / hour

Job Type: Full-Time / Non-Union

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Material Handler – Fabrication to join our team in an agile, fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring production runs smoothly by accurately gathering, organizing, and delivering raw materials and components to work centers, maintaining inventory accuracy, and operating material handling equipment.

• Raw Material Handling & Kitting

  • Unload sheet metal, copper, and raw materials from trucks and trailers safely.

  • Store and put away goods properly within warehouse racking systems.

  • Verify receipts against shipping documentation, label stock, and document material movement.

  • Kit and deliver raw materials to the appropriate production work centers on schedule.

  • Remove scrap material and waste from the production floor.

• Inventory Control & Management

  • Monitor stock levels, track usage, and report shortages or discrepancies to leadership.

  • Perform routine cycle counts and basic data entry in inventory management software.

  • Coordinate with procurement teams to support timely replenishment of stock.

  • Ensure materials are stored securely to prevent damage or loss.

• Equipment Operation & Site Safety

  • Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.

  • Complete required tracking, work orders, and production documentation accurately.

  • Adhere strictly to workplace safety standards and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.

• Experience: Previous experience picking, kitting, or handling materials/components for custom or make-to-order manufacturing environments.

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with powered industrial trucks/forklifts and basic computer proficiency (inventory software).

• Soft Skills: Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.

• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

• Comfort working in an active industrial/manufacturing setting.
