POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Manager supports the Development department's fundraising and donor engagement efforts by managing the donor database, coordinating gift processing and acknowledgment, and organizing community events and volunteer engagement. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate donor records and reporting, ensuring smooth department operations, and helping advance the Martha O'Bryan Center's mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Raiser's Edge Database Management: Maintains the integrity of the donor database (Raiser's Edge), including entering and updating constituent records, gift data, and relationship information; runs queries, exports, and mailing lists; and troubleshoots data issues to ensure accurate, up-to-date donor information.
- Data Analysis: Analyzes fundraising data and donor trends to identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring data integrity and quality across all development systems and reporting.
- Donation Processing: Processes incoming donations, including recording gifts in Raiser's Edge, reconciling gift records with Finance, and generating timely, accurate donor acknowledgment letters and receipts.
- Community Events Management: Is the contact point for coordination of community events planned to benefit MOBC. Will maintain a calendar of events and communicate involvement to appropriate staff.
- Donor Assignment: Supports the donor portfolio assignment process by tracking donor relationships and giving history in Raiser's Edge and coordinating with development staff to assign and update donor portfolios.
- In-Kind Donation Guidance and Processing: Serves as the primary point of contact for in-kind donations, advising donors and staff on donation guidelines, recording and valuing in-kind gifts, and coordinating receipt, acknowledgment, and distribution of donated goods.
- Volunteer Processing: MOBC entry point for volunteer engagement. Guides volunteer interest to appropriate departments and helps development staff coordinate volunteers supporting development activities and events.
- In-House Mailings: Prepares and manages in-house donor mailings, including appeal letters, newsletters, and acknowledgment mailings, coordinating mail merges, printing, and mailing logistics.
- Departmental Reporting: Prepares regular development reports on fundraising activity, gift totals, and donor trends for department leadership.
- Board of Directors Report Management: Compiles and manages development-related reports and materials for Board of Directors meetings, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to department leadership.
- Department Calendar Management: Maintains the Development department's shared calendar, including events, deadlines, mailings, and reporting dates.
- Departmental Dashboard Management: Maintains and updates the department's fundraising dashboard, ensuring metrics and visualizations accurately reflect current data.
- Assists with special fundraising campaigns and appeals as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in development, fundraising, or a related administrative role.
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or a comparable donor database/CRM required (1+ years preferred).
- Experience coordinating events and/or volunteers preferred.

- Occasional evening and weekend work required to support community events.
- Ability to lift and carry event materials and supplies up to 25 lbs.
