About the Role:

The Body Shop Estimator plays a critical role in the automotive repair process by accurately assessing vehicle damage and providing detailed repair estimates. This position requires a thorough understanding of automotive bodywork, parts, and labor costs to ensure estimates are precise and competitive. The estimator collaborates closely with customers, insurance companies, and repair technicians to facilitate smooth communication and efficient repair scheduling. By delivering clear and comprehensive estimates, the estimator helps manage customer expectations and supports the shop’s operational efficiency. Ultimately, this role contributes to customer satisfaction and the financial success of the body shop by ensuring repairs are properly scoped and priced.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a body shop estimator or in a similar automotive damage assessment role.
• Proficiency with automotive estimating software such as CCC ONE, Mitchell, or Audatex.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle construction, repair methods, and parts pricing.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers, insurance representatives, and technicians.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in Estimating or related areas.
• Experience working in a high-volume collision repair environment.
• Familiarity with insurance claim processes and regulations.
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read and interpret vehicle repair manuals and technical diagrams.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect damaged vehicles to evaluate the extent of body and structural damage.
• Prepare detailed and accurate repair estimates using industry-standard software and pricing guides.
• Communicate with customers to explain damage assessments, repair processes, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with insurance adjusters to verify coverage and obtain approvals for repairs.
• Work closely with body shop technicians to ensure estimates align with actual repair requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive repair techniques, parts pricing, and industry standards.
• Document all estimates and related communications thoroughly for record-keeping and billing purposes.
• Assist in managing workflow by prioritizing estimates and facilitating timely repair authorizations.

Strong communication skills are used daily to explain complex repair details and negotiate with insurance companies, ensuring clarity and agreement.
