About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary consulting engineering team. This position will support the design and construction administration of commercial, military, institutional, laboratory, multi-family residential, and government projects.
The Electrical Engineer will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from developing initial design concepts and engineering calculations through construction documentation, site observations, and final project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical design concepts, schematics, plans, and specifications for building projects.
- Design low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, and specialized power systems.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations, including load calculations, short-circuit studies, and protective device coordination.
- Develop construction documents using AutoCAD and assist with Revit/BIM design.
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate project designs.
- Research applicable building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Troubleshoot existing electrical installations and develop solutions for renovations and new construction.
- Attend construction meetings and perform site visits to monitor construction progress and compliance with design documents.
- Prepare site observation reports, punch lists, and other construction administration documentation.
- Provide technical support throughout the design and construction process.
Specialized Project Experience
Depending on project requirements, engineers may have opportunities to work on specialized systems and facilities, including:
- Fire alarm systems
- Access control and security systems
- Data and communications systems
- Laboratory facilities
- Government and military facilities
- Multi-family residential projects
- Specialized power and electrical systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of Revit/BIM.
- Experience with electrical engineering design in a consulting engineering environment preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, building codes, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
Experience Level
Opportunities may be available at multiple levels, from Staff Electrical Engineer through Senior Electrical Engineer, depending on experience and qualifications.
