Process Lab Tech

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for all air, oil and water monitoring/sample collection to assure
compliance with applicable permits and operational parameters. Performs all wet chemistry analyses
for monitoring and improving various plant processes or inquiries.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
May perform any or all Process/Environmental Lab duties as follows:
1. Logs in oil samples, performs the requested analysis, and maintains a hard copy of the
records.
2. Collects samples as required for air, water, and oil analyses.
3. Performs maintenance and calibration on all oil, water, and air testing equipment.
4. Performs analyses of required process water parameters (e.g. TSS, hardness, oil and
grease content.)
5. Log samples to be analyzed, performs tests and sends analysis results to the AS400.
6. Coordinates sample delivery and result distribution for all contractor lab testing.
7. Maintains an inventory of consumable items used in the oil, water, and air analyses.
8. Maintains a hard copy of all records of calibrations and analysis results.
9. Trains other technicians in the process/environmental lab functions and duties as directed.
10. Performs analysis within given time limits, reports results as required, and ensures that
reporting documents are complete and accurate.
11. Documents testing procedures and stores in their proper locations.
12. Performs visual observations and opacity measurements in accordance with KY Title V
air quality permit.
13. Performs routine maintenance, drift checks and calibration on the ICP.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Other duties as assigned
2. Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.
3. Promotes safety and performs routine safety assessments and area reviews, taking
corrective action when needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
A High School Diploma or GED Equivalency is required. The ability to multi-task and to pay attention to
detail is strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Mobility in plant
• While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,
walk, etc.
• The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Visual ability with or without correction
• Communication abilities

HEALTH AND SAFETY:
1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
2. Follow Company safety rules
3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor
or Manager immediately
4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or
worn:
a. Safety shoes
b. Safety glasses
c. Hearing protection
d. Hard Hat
Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:
e. Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with
company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
f.Fire Retardant clothing
g. Acid PPE
5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the
Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy
6. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
7. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
8. Maintain a clean and safe work area

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
2. Clean, well ventilated and safe work areas.
