Help Desk Technician IJob Summary

The Help Desk Technician I is responsible for providing first-level technical support for hardware, software, and end-user technology issues. This role helps maintain and support the organization's IT environment by troubleshooting problems, installing and configuring hardware and software, and escalating complex issues when necessary.

The technician will support desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, scanners, printers, phones, and other technology assets. Responsibilities include end-user support, asset management, hardware recycling, software and hardware upgrades, system maintenance, and configuration changes. As the first point of contact for technical support, the Help Desk Technician will assist users via phone, email, remote support, and in-person interactions while delivering excellent customer service and timely issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and resolve help desk tickets in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Respond to support requests via phone, email, text, remote sessions, and in person.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to higher-level support teams as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update IT knowledge base documentation.
  • Create user guides, training materials, and technical documentation.
  • Perform routine computer maintenance, upgrades, and configuration changes.
  • Support Active Directory administration, including password resets and account maintenance.
  • Provide basic software training and guidance to end users.
  • Assist with asset tracking, inventory management, and hardware lifecycle processes.
  • Coordinate with external vendors on IT-related projects and support activities.
  • Provide remote support for the India office as needed.
  • Move, deploy, and install hardware equipment when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Manager.

Education & Experience
  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in an IT support, help desk, desktop support, or related technical role.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows environments, mobile devices, and common business applications preferred.
  • Exposure to Active Directory administration is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft certifications, or similar credentials.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and endpoint management tools.
  • Ability to lift, move, and install computer hardware and related equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of North Prairie, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
