ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Medium-voltage (12.4 kV) electrical experience is mandatory for this role.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join our growing team, where the successful candidate will work with a group of engineers involved in the design, commissioning & qualification, start-up and project management of various processes, systems, and facilities. The work will require working out of the client’s facilitiesin in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This role is for anElectrical Engineer who will provide field engineering, quality control and commissioning support for the electrical scope of an industrial capital project at a wastewater treatment facility. The scope covers power systems from 12.4 kV medium voltage down to 480 V and 120 V, including switchgear, substations and distribution. Working closely with the Construction Manager (CM), the successful candidate will verify equipment installation, witness testing and support commissioning. Candidates with and without wastewater treatment plant experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical design documents and participate in design reviews.
• Verify materials and equipment against project specifications.
• Coordinate day-to-day work with the Construction Manager (CM) and provide site coordination with contractors and other disciplines.
• Perform daily field inspections of electrical installations.
• Verify installation of electrical equipment, including medium-voltage switchgear, substations, transformers and distribution equipment.
• Witness electrical testing and support commissioning activities.
• Track CSA schedule activities, RFIs and submittals.
• Carry out quality control activities to confirm work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and applicable codes.
• Provide documentation support, including test records, turnover packages and as-built information.
• Prepare progress reports and provide project status updates during project meetings.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering; a university degree is preferred. A college diploma combined with many years of field experience (e.g., as an Electrical Superintendent) will also be considered.
• 10+ years of electrical experience on industrial construction projects.
• Medium-voltage experience is required: 12.4 kV down to 480 V and 120 V, including switchgear, substations and distribution.
• Experience with equipment installation verification, testing and commissioning.
• Wastewater treatment plant experience is an asset but not required.
• Working knowledge of the NEC and applicable electrical safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the CM, contractors and client stakeholders.
