Job Description
We are looking for a Network Engineer to support and enhance a secure, high-performing enterprise network environment in Deer Park, Illinois. This role focuses on maintaining core routing and firewall infrastructure, improving connectivity across the organization, and helping ensure reliable network operations. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies and Palo Alto security platforms, along with a solid understanding of dynamic routing protocols.
Responsibilities:
• Manage, configure, and optimize Cisco routing infrastructure to maintain dependable and efficient network performance.
• Administer Palo Alto and Cisco ASA firewall environments, including rule updates, security policy enforcement, and ongoing performance review.
• Monitor network health, identify connectivity or performance issues, and resolve incidents to reduce downtime and service disruption.
• Support Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) configuration and troubleshooting to sustain stable external and internal routing paths.
• Implement network changes, upgrades, and improvements while following operational standards and security requirements.
• Collaborate with technical teams to evaluate network needs, recommend solutions, and support infrastructure-related projects.
• Maintain accurate documentation for network architecture, device configurations, and support procedures.
• Participate in troubleshooting complex networking problems across routers, firewalls, and related infrastructure components.• Hands-on experience working with Cisco routers in an enterprise network environment.
• Practical knowledge of Palo Alto Firewall administration and security policy management.
• Experience supporting or configuring Cisco ASA firewall platforms.
• Strong understanding of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and routing behavior.
• Solid foundation in Cisco networking concepts, protocols, and infrastructure support.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve network performance, routing, and security issues effectively.
• Experience documenting configurations, procedures, and technical changes in a clear manner.
