What You Will Do
- Project Leadership: Manage complex commercial and retail architectural projects from inception through construction administration, ensuring delivery on schedule and within budget.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, property managers, landlords, contractors, and city officials to maintain alignment and clear communication.
- Team Coordination: Direct and mentor internal project team members, junior designers, and drafters, while coordinating closely with MEP, structural, and civil sub-consultants.
- Quality & Compliance Control: Oversee the preparation of detailed architectural construction documents (CDs) to ensure full compliance with CBC, ADA regulations, and municipal zoning ordinances.
- Permitting & Plan Check: Navigate municipal permit processes, submit plans to building departments, and expedite approvals to meet critical client deadlines.
- Site Visits & Construction Administration: Conduct site visits, issue RFIs, review submittals, and oversee site observation reports to ensure construction adheres to approved design intent.
What You Will Bring
- Experience: 5+ years of architectural project management experience, specifically focused on retail, multi-site rollout, or commercial tenant improvement (TI) projects.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related discipline (Architectural License is a plus, but not required).
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on mastery of AutoCAD and proficiency with Revit; strong familiarity with project management tools and MS Office Suite.
- Code & Permitting Knowledge: Deep understanding of California Building Codes (CBC), accessibility requirements (ADA/Title 24), and local permitting procedures across Southern California.
- Communication & Leadership: Exceptional leadership, time-management, and negotiation skills with a track record of building trust with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
