We are seeking a dedicated, skilled Low Voltage & Network Cabling Technician to join our field operations team.
Job Summary
As a Field Technician, you will play a key role in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining low-voltage cabling infrastructure, optical fiber networks, security cameras, and network hardware across diverse client environments. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to NEC standards, and a customer-first approach to field service.
Key Responsibilities
- Cabling & Infrastructure: Install, pull, route, and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, low-voltage wiring, and fiber optic cabling in commercial and industrial settings while strictly following NEC electrical standards and TIA/EIA guidelines.
- Fiber Optics: Perform fiber optic system installation, fusion/mechanical splicing, and signal testing to ensure maximum network speed and signal integrity.
- Security & CCTV Systems: Mount, position, wire, test, and troubleshoot CCTV cameras, power supplies, and security surveillance hardware.
- Hardware & Networking: Set up, configure, and troubleshoot active network equipment including Cisco switches/routers, Avaya systems, VoIP telephony, and AC/DC power supplies.
- Technical Blueprint Reading: Interpret schematics, floor plans, blueprints, and network topology diagrams to carry out precise field installations.
- Quality Assurance & Documentation: Conduct diagnostic testing using ohmmeters, telecommunications testers, and RF equipment. Maintain complete logs of testing results, cabling drops, and job site reports.
- Client & Field Service Support: Provide clear, professional technical communication to client representatives on-site, ensuring safety protocols and project specs are strictly met.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Field Experience: 1+ years of hands-on experience in low-voltage wiring, structured cabling termination, fiber optic splicing, or CCTV system installations.
- Networking Knowledge: Solid understanding of LAN/WAN setups, Ethernet standards, Cisco routers/switches, and VoIP telephony platforms.
- Standards & Compliance: In-depth familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) guidelines for low-voltage installations and structured cabling standards.
- Tool & Diagnostic Proficiency: Skilled with cable crimpers, punch-down tools, power tools, fusion splicers, optical light meters, and multimeters/ohmmeters.
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to read and execute work from technical schematics and construction blueprints with precision.
- Professional Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and excellent verbal communication for client-facing field environments.
- Pluses: Experience with Computer hardware troubleshooting, or industry certifications (e.g., FOA, BICSI, OSHA).
