Melt Shop Process Engineer

We are recruiting a Melt Shop Process Engineer to work on the design and construction of a state-of-the-art steel manufacturing/recycling micro-mill utilizing robotics, AI and Machine Learning, world class CO2 emissions through efficiency and green energy – BY DESIGN with capability to integrate renewable energy and storage

Scope

New Melt Shop Design, Construction and Commissioning Support:

Define Scrap Mix and Process

Define Aloys, Fluxes, Refractories and Electrode to be used

Collaborate with OEM on the process and Equipment Design

Study sustainability initiatives

Train New Employees.

Responsible for process stabilization and improvement in all melt shop areas

Focus on Performance of:

Scrap Yard,

Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)

Ladle Furnace,

Caster

Refractory

Lead corrective actions

Monitor Melt shop parameters and Implement process changes as necessary

Work closely with the Quality

Soft Skills

Good communication, verbally and written, with operators, supervisors, maintenance, suppliers, management, and plant support staff

Highly technical, detail oriented, organized and self-starter

Work independently, take initiative and drive for results with minimal supervision

Ability to work hands-on in the shop with operators

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Engineering, or a related field

4+ years’ experience working with the Melt Shop process
