Job Description

The Plastics Extrusion Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plastic extrusion equipment used to manufacture polyethylene film products. In this role, you monitor production processes, perform machine adjustments, conduct quality inspections, and ensure production goals are met while maintaining strict compliance with safety and quality standards. You collaborate closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to maximize equipment performance, minimize waste, and consistently produce high-quality products that meet customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate plastic extrusion lines and related equipment in accordance with established operating procedures.
• Start up, monitor, adjust, and shut down extrusion equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitor machine settings, temperatures, pressures, and production rates to ensure optimal performance.
• Make routine process adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
• Conduct regular quality inspections of polyethylene film products to ensure they meet customer specifications and internal standards.
• Complete production reports, quality records, downtime logs, and material usage documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Utilize production systems and paperwork to track manufacturing performance and inventory movement.
• Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and quality personnel to resolve issues and optimize equipment performance.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working around extrusion equipment and in the manufacturing area.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient and safe production operations.
• Meet established production goals and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience operating plastic extrusion machines and related production equipment.
• Strong understanding of extrusion processes, including machine settings, temperatures, pressures, and production rates.
• Ability to monitor equipment performance and make appropriate process adjustments to maintain product quality and efficiency.
• Proficiency in basic production documentation, including completing production reports, quality records, downtime logs, and material usage forms.
• Attention to detail when inspecting products to ensure they meet quality and customer specifications.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production setting with established goals and deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in general production and machine operation within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in plastics processing or polyethylene film manufacturing.
• Familiarity with using production systems to track performance and inventory movement.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, and quality.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and shift work as business needs require.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to noise, heat, and moving equipment. You must use personal protective equipment as required to ensure safety. The setting is fast-paced, with established production goals and deadlines that require focus and efficiency. The position may involve overtime, weekend work, and shift work depending on business needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Centralia, WA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Centralia,WA.
