About the Role
This is a hands-on engineering role on a small, high-velocity team building flight-critical real-time electronic control systems for advanced strike vehicles. You will personally own hardware from first schematic through bring-up, integration, and production, not manage requirements from a distance. The work is high-impact and moves fast, sitting at the intersection of avionics, GNC, and flight software.
What You'll Do
- Design control electronics boards including motor controllers, actuator drivers, and feedback/control loops for current and future flight vehicles.
- Own your hardware end-to-end: PCB design, bring-up, integration, debug, and production handoff.
- Work with microcontrollers, microprocessors, and mixed-signal circuits with a focus on real-time control processing.
- Collaborate closely with GNC, avionics, and flight software teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Define your own requirements and drive technical decisions independently, without a dedicated systems engineering layer.
What We're Looking For
- 3 or more years of hands-on design, bring-up, and debug of control or power electronics PCBAs, such as motor controllers, valve drivers, or actuator electronics.
- Analog and mixed-signal circuit design experience covering motor drivers, power conversion, or precision control loops.
- PCB design proficiency from schematic capture through layout; Altium experience preferred.
- Background at a fast-paced hardware company or high-velocity startup in aerospace, defense, automotive, or robotics.
- Familiarity with embedded hardware and microcontrollers, including ARM MCUs, CAN bus, and related protocols.
- Experience with flight hardware or high-reliability systems (aerospace, defense, or automotive) is a strong plus.
- Comfort with simulation and modeling tools such as SPICE and MATLAB/Simulink.
- BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a security clearance.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $150,000 to $200,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Location
On-site in Torrance, California. This role requires regular in-person presence and is not available remotely.
