You open the shop with a quick safety huddle, align the technicians and machinists on priorities, and scan the repair board: a pump assembly due today, a gearbox rebuild in progress, and a troublesome rotating unit awaiting diagnosis. You assign work, coach a newer tech on a machining setup, and jump in to verify tolerances on a manual machine. Midday, you troubleshoot a mechanical issue, document findings, and coordinate parts needs. Before close, you review performance notes, update job records, and collaborate with a project manager to keep timelines on trackall while keeping the team focused, safe, and efficient.
What you’ll do
- Lead and mentor a team of technicians and machinists, cultivating a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Plan, oversee, and verify the repair, maintenance, and assembly of rotating equipment to meet high workmanship standards.
- Diagnose mechanical issues quickly and accurately; guide corrective actions.
- Organize workflow, staffing, and schedules to maximize productivity in the shop.
- Provide regular performance feedback and conduct evaluations to develop team capability.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies across all shop activities.
- Maintain thorough job records and assist with inventory tracking and parts readiness.
- Partner with other departments to support project objectives and timelines.
