Position Title: Engineering Technician

Hourly Wage: $24.84 to $30.02, depending on qualifications
Reports To: Ogle County Engineer

As a County Highway Engineering Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting our team of engineers and professionals in achieving this goal.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering staff to assist in the planning, design, and analysis of county and township highway projects.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for construction and maintenance projects.
- Serve as Resident Technician on roadway and bridge construction projects. Provide support during construction projects, including monitoring progress, verifying compliance with plans, and addressing any issues that may arise.
- Conduct materials sampling and testing in accordance with IDOT specifications.
- Collaborate with other departments, local government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Review permit applications for overweight and oversized loads, driveways and utility installations.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other technical tools to create accurate and detailed drawings.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma
- Valid Driver's License
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate construction sites.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with transportation engineering principles and practices.
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field a plus.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and technical tools.
- IDOT Inspection Certifications a plus (Aggregate, Concrete, HMA, Documentation, etc.)
