Job Description

As a General Production Worker, you will support a pallet recycling operation in an industrial warehouse by inspecting, sorting, and handling wooden pallets. You will work closely with forklift operators to determine whether pallets can be reused, repaired, or recycled while maintaining high productivity and strict safety standards. This role is physically demanding and requires continuous lifting, bending, twisting, and standing throughout a fast-paced weekend shift.

Responsibilities

• Inspect wooden pallets for quality, damage, and overall condition to determine whether they can be reused, repaired, or recycled.
• Manually sort pallets based on inspection results and direct them to the appropriate area for reuse, repair, or recycling.
• Handle materials safely and efficiently, including repeatedly lifting and moving pallets weighing up to 60 lbs throughout the shift.
• Work alongside sit-down forklift operators to coordinate pallet movement and maintain an organized workflow.
• Maintain a strong safety focus by following all warehouse safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment.
• Support production goals by working efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meeting productivity and quality standards.
• Perform repetitive bending, twisting, lifting, and standing tasks while maintaining attention to detail during inspections.
• Assist with general labor tasks related to pallet recycling and warehouse operations as needed.
• Adhere to a compressed weekend schedule, working Friday through Sunday on a 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. shift.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent operation of the pallet recycling process.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to repeatedly lift and handle pallets weighing up to 60 lbs throughout a full shift.
• Comfort working in a physically demanding role that requires continuous standing, bending, twisting, and lifting.
• Experience working in a warehouse, manufacturing, recycling, or production environment.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a sit-down forklift.
• Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse or distribution setting.
• Experience using pallet jacks and other basic material handling equipment.
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting materials for quality and condition.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work a compressed weekend schedule from Friday to Sunday.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safety-focused mindset in an industrial environment.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to perform repetitive physical tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in general labor, production, or pallet recycling operations.
• Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Willingness to learn additional warehouse and forklift skills as new technologies and processes are introduced.
• Ability to adapt to exposure to automation and new sorting technology being installed on site.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial warehouse setting within a pallet recycling operation that serves a major distribution center. The work is fast-paced and physically demanding, with continuous lifting, bending, twisting, and standing required throughout the shift. The warehouse is non-climate-controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. Personal protective equipment is provided, including gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and a hard hat. Steel-toe boots are required, and employees must wear jeans or cargo pants; shorts and sweatpants are not permitted.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Longview, TX.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
