A Day in the Life
You’ll start by reviewing service tickets and planning your workflow with the service team. Mornings might include a rigorous diagnostic on an intermittent electrical issue, followed by rigging a new engine install. After lunch, you could be out on a sea trial to validate a repair, then back in the shop documenting findings and preparing the next jobalways keeping your bay safe, organized, and customer-ready.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose, service, maintain, and repair Mercury outboard engines with accuracy and efficiency
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, and steering systems across a range of vessels
- Perform engine rigging, new installations, and repowers as needed
- Conduct sea trials and confirm repairs are completed correctly
- Maintain detailed service records and communicate repair findings clearly
- Collaborate with the service team to deliver high-quality work on schedule
- Uphold a clean, safe, and orderly workspace
What You Bring
- 3+ years of marine technician or outboard service experience preferred
- Extensive hands-on experience with Mercury outboards strongly preferred
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair marine mechanical and electrical systems
- Mercury certifications are a plus; ABYC certifications are also a plus
- Experience with Yamaha or Suzuki outboards is valued
- Ability to independently identify issues and complete repairs end-to-end
- Valid driver’s license
- Dependable, professional, and comfortable in a fast-paced marine service environment
