Job Description
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support a healthcare organization in Santa Rosa, California on a Contract basis. This opportunity is well suited for an accounting specialist who is comfortable working across core general ledger activities, reconciliations, and month-end support in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong analytical ability, solid Excel skills, and the ability to maintain accuracy while assisting with a range of day-to-day accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
• Reconcile bank activity and investigate discrepancies to ensure records remain accurate and current.
• Examine accounts payable invoices for completeness, coding accuracy, and proper approval before processing.
• Prepare and review journal entries, including adjustments needed to support accurate financial reporting.
• Perform account reconciliations across balance sheet and operating statement accounts and resolve outstanding items.
• Record and post cash receipts in a timely manner while maintaining clear supporting documentation.
• Oversee prepaid expense and fixed asset activity within Intacct modules, including updates and tracking.
• Contribute to the monthly close by organizing schedules, completing assigned accounting tasks, and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Provide support to the Controller on assigned projects and assist with departmental coverage when other accounting team members are unavailable.• At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger account analysis.
• Working knowledge of balance sheets, operating statements, and month-end accounting processes.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze data and work efficiently with spreadsheets.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and sound analytical problem-solving ability.
• Experience reviewing accounts payable activity and processing cash receipts.
• Familiarity with Intacct is preferred; experience with Bill.com or Paycom is a plus.
